Surface Pro 7 battery

The battery icon on my taskbar disappeared. There are no options available in the taskbar menu to reinstall it. I had to click show hidden devices to find the battery in device manager. The device status for the battery states:

Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.

I ran the troubleshooter, updated the drivers, ran an SFC scan, check disk and DISM scan without resolution of the issue. My device is working without issues, but I am afraid to unplug it as I don't have an indicator of the battery level.

Any suggestions?

    Hi R Shann 1,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused you. I appreciate the time you spent and effort in trying to resolve the issue with your Surface device Aside from the troubleshooting steps mentioned above, have you also try uninstalling the battery driver?

To uninstall Battery driver, open Device Manager find batteries and expand. Double click (or double tap) ‘Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery’. Select ‘Driver’ and then click on ‘Uninstall’, and then ‘OK’. Check the box to delete the driver.

Then Force a shutdown and restart your Surface.

    1. Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
    2. After your Surface restarts, we recommend running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit to make sure your device is updated and working as expected. For more info, see Fix common Surface problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
