Surface Pro 4 keyboard not working

Hi,

Since a few weeks my Surface Pro 4 no longer recognizes the keyboard. I tried all of the solutions found on this board and the internet, such as:

 - Try a friend's keyboard; also not recognized.

 - Get all the most recent updates; no effect.

 - Try all the different types of hard and soft reboots; no effect.

Any other ideas on what might cause this?

Thanks in advance!

D

You can find hundreds of people reporting this issue in this forum and

elsewhere. If the typecover does not work in the UEFI then nothing is going to

fix this. Microsoft has not acknowledged that there is a problem and will only

suggest an out of warranty exchange ($450 US).

The UEFI settings can be adjusted only during system startup. To load the UEFI

    firmware settings menu:

    1. Shut down your Surface.
    2. Press and hold the volume-up button on your Surface and at the same

time, press and release the power button.

    1. When you see the Surface logo, release the volume-up button.

The UEFI menu will display within a few seconds.

    Hello Barb,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not completely sure what it is you're suggesting. In the UEFI menu all I can see is that the type cover port is set to "On".

    Thanks.

can you use the trackpad/mouse on the typecover to select anything while in the

    UEFI menu?
