It appears that Surface Go 1st Gen is not on the list for machines entitled for the free Win11 upgrade.

If I bought a copy of Win11 Pro, and tried to install it on a Surface GO 1stGen, 8GB/126GB, will it install??

Windows 11 is Windows 11 - no matter what flavor (S mode, Home, or Pro). If you saw that the Surface Go 1 Gen was not on the list, ALL 1st Gen models of the Surface Go 1st Gen will NOT install Windows 11.

You may see some 'hacks' out there to get Windows 11 to run on earlier model machines but those people will get a surprise sometime in the future.

Just leave your machine as it is, there is nothing wrong with Windows 10. The machine will fail before Windows 10 loses support.

    Thank you, James ..

By the same token .. by the time MS provides me with a surprise, I'd be either .. keeping the latest W11 that worked, or move to Surface GO 4. To avoid switching from Win10S to Win 10 .. only then to discover that W11 Pro would not install .. is a lose of a more secure environment for no gain.
What I need is an authoritative response .. not an opinion.

    Thanks.
