My Surface Pro 7 touch screen/pen input has stopped working

Question

Intel(R) Precise Touch Device is the only driver that is not working.

It also shows this error...

This device cannot start. 

(Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR

I have tried the following:

• Reset the device
• Forced shut down the device
• Disabled and re-enabled the driver
• Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver
• Installed an older version of the driver
• Ensured that Windows was up to date (I should mention that this issue occurred the same day that Windows updated to the "feature update to Windows 10, version 2004." I restarted the device so I don't if it updated before or after this issue)

I'm currently at a standstill where I really don't know what to do and it's frustrating. This is an extremely serious issue for an expensive device marketed as a tablet. There is no physical damage on the screen or on the device itself that can be seen. I have been taking good care of it. If it is a hardware issue, I would absolutely dread having to send it in for servicing because it would be very difficult to set everything back up with all the things I have installed and configured.

If there is something I am overlooking, I'd really appreciate some input. Thank you.

I use the Microsoft Surface Pen. No form of touch input is working though.

So far, since I got the new regular Pen, i've not had a crash. Using the Slim Pen, all the time

Running 1909 and latest SP7 firmware

have u experienced any battery issues?

I've heard disappointing news about its battery life.
