    Hi Rp_23,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We appreciate for sharing your concern to us.

I am aware of the problem you are experiencing with your Surface laptop, which is the inability of finding the HID compliant touchscreen driver in Device Manager. I am here to help and let us work on this together.

If HID compliant Touchscreen driver is missing from Device Manager, I recommend to manually install the drivers and firmware for your Surface.

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version. On the search box type Winver and hit the enter key.

    1. Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop.
    2. Then click the link next to Surface Laptop 4 then click Download on the next page.
    3. Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
    4. After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

Also check for any pending updates available including optional updates.

Go to Settings >> Windows updates >> Check for updates. To check optional updates, select advance options and click optional updates.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

Will you confirm if the touchscreen on your Surface laptop is not working the reason why you want to enable the touchscreen?

Will you check if Intel(R) Precise Touch Device is showing on the list of your driver in Device manager?

Check any drivers listed in Device manager that has a yellow bang or error. You can share us a photo or screenshot of the error.

I appreciate you for providing us the photo. Yes, that is the Intel driver I am referring to.

Were any modifications made before this problem arose?

We may need to reset your Surface using a USB recovery drive. This option will reimage the entire device and reload Windows including the drivers and firmware. It is the most complete form of Reset and it will wipe out everything on the device. You will need also a 16GB/32GB of flash driver that must be formatted into FAT32 prior to downloading the Recovery image. See steps below for guidance.

    6. Tap or click OK when the format is complete

    Create a recovery drive:

    1. On your Surface or PC, open recovery image that you downloaded by double-clicking it or right click then select Extract and then Extract all.
