Microsoft Precision Mouse firmware upgrade

I use a Microsoft Precision mouse with my Surface Pad 2. This week a notice came up to upgrade the firmware on my mouse. I performed the upgrade and now my Precision mouse does not stay connected with my Surface Pad's bluetooth. It connects for seconds, then disconnects entirely for 10 to 20 seconds then connects again for maybe 3 seconds.

I haven't seen any information on changing the firmware on the mouse to roll it back or just try to reinstall. Does anyone know how I can reinstall the mouses firmware? Microsofts mouse and keyboard tool does not have a function for this. I've also looked at the Surface Pad tool as well and couldn't find a solution. I was able to connect a new Microsoft Precision mouse and it works perfectly. When I first connected the new Precision mouse, it asked me to do a firmware upgrade on the mouse. I opted not to upgrade and ruin this mouse as well. Thoughts?

I'd love to get my 1st Precision mouse back up and functioning properly. Also, I connected that first Precision mouse to another laptop and the same connection issue occurs so I know the issue is within the mouse, not the laptop.
