Hell Danielle,
I'm Riza an Independent Advisor. Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community.
The primary goal is to get both your PC and laptop running the same, most recent version of CapCut. With a clean reinstallation from the official website on your laptop, you should be able to get both CapCut versions synchronized and open your projects without issue.
Let's try the below step by step troubleshooting path starting with the most common fix.
- Reinstall CapCut on Your Laptop. This is usually the most effective way to resolve version discrepancies and update issues.
But first, Uninstall CapCut from your Laptop:
Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
Find CapCut in the list, click it, and select Uninstall.
Follow any prompts to complete the uninstallation.
Important: After uninstalling, restart your laptop. This helps clear any remaining or residue files.
Once completely uninstalled, Download and Install the Latest Version:
Go directly to the official CapCut desktop download page. You can usually find this by searching "CapCut for PC download" or going to their main website.
Download the installer file.
Run the installer and install CapCut on your laptop. This should install the very latest version (which should be very close to your PC's 6.3.0 version, or even newer).
- Verify the Installation Method:
Check where CapCut was installed from on both devices. If your PC's CapCut was installed from the official website and your laptop's from the Microsoft Store (or vice-versa), this could be the reason for the version difference. It's generally recommended to stick to one method. The official website download often provides the latest updates more consistently.
- Address the "PC Continues to Say It Can Be Updated Further" Issue:
This is less critical for your immediate problem of transferring projects, but still worth addressing for consistency.
Run the update directly from within the CapCut PC app. Look for a "Check for Updates" option in the settings or help menu within the CapCut application itself.
If it still says there's an update but doesn't install: You might consider a similar reinstall process for your PC's CapCut as well, but only after you've successfully updated your laptop.
Very Important Note:
Please make sure to make a backup of your projects: Before uninstalling, always back up your CapCut projects! CapCut projects are usually stored in a specific folder on your computer. You can also use CapCut's cloud space feature (if you're logged in and have an account) to upload projects.
Project File Location: CapCut projects are often found in a folder like C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local\CapCut\User Data\Projects or similar.
Copy the entire project folder(s) you want to transfer to a USB drive or cloud storage.
Last but not the least MAKE SURE both your PC and laptop have a stable and fast internet connection during the download and update process.
Best Regards,
RizaP
