Hi My Surface Laptop 3 loose the Wireless network card from time to time, for no reason and without and 100% solution.

I usually try:

  1. Network reset
  2. Reset the network card
  3. Uninstall the network card
  • Always with a restart of the computer.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn´t which is really annoying as a laptop with no WIFI is like a dead laptop.

Is this covered by warranty?

    Hi Olle J,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. I'm sorry to hear about the intermittent issues that you are having on the network adapter of your Surface Laptop 3.

May I know when did this issue started? Were there any changes that was made on the device prior to the occurrence of the issue?

Please try first running these steps below then see if the issue persist:

    1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

See: Fix common Surface problems using the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (microsoft.com)

    2: Check for Windows Update

Go to Windows Settings > Update & Security and select Check for updates

Make sure all updates need are installed including Optional updates

    3: Update drivers and firmware

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop

Then click the link next to Surface Laptop 3 then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

4: Run System File Checker Tool

See: Using System File Checker in Windows (microsoft.com)

If still the issue persist, I would like to confirm this questions:

    • Whenever the network adapter disappears, does it shows an error code in Device Manager under Network adapters? If yes, may I know what error code does it shows?
    • Or whenever the issue occurs, does the Wireless Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz disappears in Device Manager also or does it stays there but when trying to connect to a network, you are prompted that no networks found or visible?
    • What is the Driver version of the Wireless Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 160MHz that is currently installed on your Surface? To get the Driver version, double-click the adapter then go to its Driver tab.

    Kind regards,

    Marrion
