    claude ricks, hello!

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

According to your description, are you unable to open the camera, do you have a specific error code or a screenshot of the error when it came out, you mentioned that you saw the same problem in and used a program to fix it, I can't tell if the program is compatible or not, can you provide me with the address where you found the fix? Regarding your question, you can fix your problem from the driver side.

    I. Reinstall the driver

Select "Search" on the taskbar, type "Device Manager" and select it from the results.

Select the arrow next to "Camera" to expand the list and check if the following adapters are listed:

    Intel(R) TGL AVStream Webcam

    Intel(R) AVStream Webcam

Double-click on the webcam, select the Drivers tab, and then select Uninstall Device.

Select "Try to remove the driver for this device" and then select "Uninstall".

    Reboot the Surface.

    Ⅱ.Installing Surface Drivers Manually

Download Surface Pro 8 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center website.

After downloading, install them manually and see if the problem reappears.

Ⅲ、 you can also try turning the camera function back on in UEFI to see if the issue reoccurs. You can follow the video steps in the support link below to get into UEFI:

Then find the appropriate camera function switch in your device.

If your issue is still not resolved, it cannot be ruled out that this is a hardware issue that cannot be resolved by technical support, so you can contact Surface Technical Support to assist you in creating an order for repair.

Thank you for reporting the issue. A fix is available through Windows Update.  For more information about updates for your Surface available through Windows Update see the Surface Pro 8 update history page.
