Testing Software not working on Surface Pro X

Hello,

I recently downloaded Examplify onto my Surface Pro X and when I try to run it I get the error that "examplify is not permissible on Virtual Machines". I have read through ever other forum and tried everything including:

  1. I have tried looking for hyper-V in "Turn windows features on and off" program and hyper-V is not listed. Maybe because I have windows 10 education?
  2. Ive stopped "Windows Management Instrumentation" and renamed the Repository folder to RepositoryOLD and that did not work
  3. I've disabled Memory integration and that did not work.

After spending like 4 hours doing this I think the problem is that my Microsoft Surface Pro X has virtualization on and do not know how to or if I can turn this off. As far as I'm aware according to the software website I should be able to run this program on my computer. I appreciate any and all help.

Thanks,

Scotty

Thank you for confirming, FlyinScooter11. Did you also confirm if the app does not have compatibility issues with Windows 10 ARM? Also, if the device is connected to a school or organization, try to reach out to the admin and verify about the Hyper V settings since they have more control on the settings of the organization.

Thank you for posting your inquiry here in Microsoft Community, FlyinScooter11.

I researched the system requirements of the Examplify app through Bing.com and found the details below from their website:

The Hyper-V is an optional feature for Windows 10 Enterprise, Pro, or Education, if you also would like to disable the Hyper-V feature, try to disable Hyper-V in Control Panel, follow these steps:

    1. In Control Panel, select Programs and Features.
    2. Select Turn Windows features on or off.
    3. Expand Hyper-V, expand Hyper-V Platform, and then clear the Hyper-V Hypervisor check box.

Please check the Disable Hyper-V for your reference.

If disabling the Hyper-V do not work, I suggest checking this on experts which is the Customer Support for Examplify app (they have more knowledge about the system and installation requirements of the app):

    Hope this helps.

So I'm currently running Windows 10 education and even with that when I go to "Turn Windows Features on/off" the option for hyper V does not show up. I called the examsoft support on Saturday and spent like an hour with them and even they couldn't figure it out and recommended I reach out to Microsoft since it seems like a software issue. Is there anyway I can chat with someone over the phone and maybe share my computer screen?

Okay I think I figured it out.

I didn't really know what ARM was but it seems like the Surface Pro X is ARM based. That makes sense know why the exam software doesn't work and why I get the virtualization error because it's downloading onto x86 and running its own emulator. This also probably explains why I can't download the printer drivers at my school either. They just aren't comparable with ARM.

In summary this is annoying and I wish I would have known before school started. I guess I could switch out to like the Surface Pro 7 which isn't ARM as far as I'm aware and it should be able to run the software?

Thanks a million for your help,

    Scotty

That is correct, FlyinScooter11. The Surface Pro 7 is not running Windows 10 ARM and should be able to run the apps.
