    Are you trying to download and update the associated app for this ethernet adapter to work? If the app that supports this kind of adapter only runs on x64-bit, then this won't work on a Surface Pro X with ARM processor. So, what I can highly suggest is to contact the software developer to check if they do have an updated software for this adapter that runs on X-86 bits or an associated software that is ported to ARM64.

    Is this similar to a USB-C to ethernet adapter from this link>> https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-usb-c-to-ethernet-and-usb-adapter/8wt81cglrblp?. If it is and it won't work on your Surface Pro X, what I can recommend to try it on another device. The issue why it isn't working might be due to not being compatible to a device with ARM processor.
