I'm trying to install Windows 11 on my new Surface Pro 8. I have an ISO image from my other Surface Pro. I boot the Surface Pro 8 using Windows Installation Media. The first Windows Installation screen appears. But I'm unable to advance to the next screen, regardless of which key I press.

    Hi William29150,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We appreciate for sharing your concern to us.

I am aware of your desire in trying to install Windows 11 on your new Surface Pro 8. However, it's important to note that the Surface Pro 8 comes with Windows 11 pre-installed, so you don't need to install it manually.

    • Would you kindly confirm and check the Windows version that is currently installed on your device? On the search box type Winver and hit the enter key.

If you're experiencing issues with the installation process, it's possible that the ISO image you're using is not compatible with the Surface Pro 8.

Please let me know and I'll do my best to assist you further.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia

I'm trying to duplicate my current PC on my new surface Pro 8.

Perhaps the issue is that I am attempting to use an ISO image from Windows 11 Pro (current PC), on my new Surface Pro 8, that has Windows 11 Home installed?

I appreciate your for sharing this photo of your Windows version. I can see that you have in contact with one of our moderators, Marrion_Y.

Yes, you’re correct. The issue might be due to the difference in the Windows 11 versions. Based on your last response,

If you can't go beyond the first Windows set up or you’re unable to select “Next” using the Surface Keyboard touchpad or by touching the screen, try attaching an external mouse or a keyboard. Please note that you might need to physically connect both the USB drive and mouse/keyboard (keyboard is better because you have to type in a Wi-Fi password) but you can swap back and forth between mouse and keyboard.
