Surface Pro X .Net Framework Issue?

Having a problem with company I am collaborating with, they need to install a program on my device, but have been unable to do it, this is what they sent me:

After several attempts to install the .NET Framework we have ultimately come to an issue that needs to be directed to Microsoft.

The .NET Framework fails when trying to turn the features on. If you go into Windows Update settings there is a .Net Cumulative File Update available but it fails when trying to download/install.

I also tried to download/install the current .Net Framework files from Microsoft website but I get an error that they are already installed on the machine.

Any ideas of where to go from here or how to address this issue?

    Hello FPAMB,

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry to hear about this problem on the device. We'll do our best to help.

If I may ask, is the device connected to a domain? May I also know what specific app you're trying to install? And what version of Windows the device is running?

Please be informed that drivers for hardware, games and apps will only work if designed for a Windows 10 or Windows 11 ARM-based PC on Surface Pro X. This means you'll need 64-bit (ARM64) apps, 32-bit (ARM32) apps, or 32-bit (x86) apps. You can usually find 32-bit (x86) versions of apps, but some app developers only offer 64-bit (x64) apps.

In the meantime, if you have meet the version of apps you're trying to install for Windows ARM-based PC, try the Windows Update troubleshooter. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot. Click Other troubleshooters and choose Run button next to Windows Update.

Otherwise, you can repair the .NET Framework install using the .NET Framework Repair Tool.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    StevenK

I'm curious what the app is, and what .NET Framework they were trying to install. Windows 10 & 11 typically already has .NET Framework installed. Plus if they were unaware of the fact that you're using an ARM-based PC, they could have unwittingly been trying an incompatible installer.

I just wanted to point out that with Windows 11, x64 apps can also be run on the Surface Pro X.
