Surface Pro 4 tablet, does not sleep with power button

If I do not have the Type cover attached, and press the power button to sleep it, the screen will go black and it will sleep (perhaps) then it will spontaneously turn back on again and try to find me (facial recognition) for a very long time. I have to press the power button again to turn it off and wait to see if it will stay off.

Is there some way to have it sleep with just ONE press?

    Hello WSbb,

Have you checked from the advanced power options that the power button is set to put the device in sleep?

Press the battery icon on the taskbar -> Scroll down into more power options -> Choose what the power button does

    Best Regards

Yes the power button is set to the option of SLEEP. I wish there was one that says, 'Sleep, then wake and recognise owner' as well, and I could change it to just Sleep.

It happened again today, I turned it off without the keyboard and moments later it turned on trying to find me. I pressed the power button again and it went off, but a little later found it was on in my bag trying to find me (I was not in the bag unfortunately.)

    :)

I have changed these settings and Applied them, then back to the Sleep setting.

If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Thanks for your reply.

    Hello WSbb,

What you could use instead of the sleep, is using the hibernation.

Since the device will shut down in between it will not suddenly start itself and start looking for you.

    Best Regards

It's not normal. My SP4 does that if plugged in: It just doesn't seem to like to go to sleep. On battery power it works fine.

Is your issue when on battery power or plugged in?
