    Hello, frederick drzewowski.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

To help you recover your Wi-Fi icon, I will assist you and share with you the following possible suggestions.

    1. Utilize Airplane Mode to troubleshoot Wi-Fi issues:

    • Click on the network icon at the bottom right corner of the taskbar. In the pop-up menu, click the “Airplane Mode” icon to enable Airplane Mode and wait for 1 minute.
    • Keep Airplane Mode on for about 1 minute.
    • Click the network icon at the bottom right corner of the taskbar again. Click the Airplane Mode icon to disable Airplane Mode.

    2. Try to force restart your Surface to reset the hardware cache:

    • Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
    • Reboot and observe if the Wi-Fi icon is restored.

    3. Update the driver through Device Manager:

    • If we are able to reconnect to the Wi-Fi, we can update the network driver:
    • Open Device Manager (right-click on the start menu and select “Device Manager”).
    • Find “Network Adapters”, right-click on your WiFi adapter and select “Update Drivers”.

You can also manually obtain driver and firmware installers for your Surface Pro 6 to troubleshoot potential driver issues and maintain device performance:

Download Surface Pro 6 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center ****

    4. Run Network Troubleshooting:

    • Open Settings (press Windows + I), select “System”, and click “Troubleshooting”.
    • Find the network-related troubleshooting option and run it.

If the above options don't help you get your Wi-Fi icon back, another thing we can do is to use a network reset before confirming if this is a hardware issue with a network adapter:

    • Select the Start button and enter your settings. Select Settings > Network and Internet > Advanced Network Settings > Network Reset.
    • Open the Network and Internet Status settings.
    • On the Network Reset screen, select Reset Now > Yes to confirm.
    • Wait for the computer to restart and see if the problem is solved.

These are some of ideas I can share with you at this time.

I wish you all the best and I am here to support you.

    Best Regards.
