USB Driver on Docking Station Model 1664

Question

I use a Surface Pro 6 and a Surface Pro 4.  I am on Windows 10 Home v 1903.  I also use a Model 1664 docking station.  The USB ports - connecting the transceiver (for mouse and keyboard) and the printer have stopped working.  I have received a "USB malfunction" message.  Is there a way to update and solve this on the Model 1664?   - John R.

That SP3 docking station is not officially supported for SP6 although they did

make a spacer for SP4. However, there are no updates for that old slide in dock

as it is discontinued. If the USB port on the 2 Surfaces works, then it is

definitely the dock and you should consider the newer brick or a third party

solution.

Thank you for reaching out Surface Community. May I know if your USB accessories are working when connected directly on your Surface Devices? If it is only happening on your Surface Dock, please Download and install the Surface Dock Updater Tool. Select Surface_Dock_Updater_v2.23.139.0.msi. Hit Next and follow the rest of the instructions to update the dock.

Thank you for the reply.  To answer your question, the issue is with the docking station -- the USB port on my Surface works fine.  Per your suggestion, I downloaded the Surface Dock Update Tool, but it doesn't seem to work on the Model 1664 (which is now discontinued, but which I prefer).  Is there an update for Model 1664?

Thanks Barb -- much appreciated. You are correct, the update tool didn't work on Model 1664.  I'll check out the "brick" models, but I really don't like that design very much.
