Hi carson guthrie,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.
Based on your description, we understand that you have a Surface Laptop 2 and the click on the touchpad does not work, but the tap does. This could be due to a number of reasons, such as a faulty touchpad, a driver issue, or a software conflict.
To troubleshoot this problem, please follow these steps:
- Check if the touchpad is enabled in the Settings app. Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Touchpad and make sure the toggle switch under Touchpad is on.
- Check if the touchpad settings are correct. In the same Touchpad page, click on Additional settings and make sure the ClickLock option is unchecked and the Tapping option is checked.
- Update the touchpad driver. Go to Start > Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices and right-click on your touchpad device. Select Update driver and follow the instructions on the screen.
- Restart your Surface Laptop 2 and see if the problem is resolved.
If still issue persists, kindly try to test if clicking on touchpad also does not work on the UEFI environment of the device. See this page for the steps on how to get to the UEFI settings: How to use Surface UEFI - Microsoft Support
Let me know how its goes.
Kind regards,
Marrion
