No signal when trying to connect ViewSonic VA1655 portable monitor to Windows Surface laptop 4

I have a Surface Laptop 4. I just purchased a ViewSonic VA1655 portable monitor. I am connecting the portable monitor to the computer via a USB C to USB C cable (the USB C cable that came with the monitor). There is power transfer, but the portable monitor returns "No Signal". I tried using the portable monitor with my Samsung S23 Ultra mobile phone and the display worked fine. How do I get my computer to extend to the portable display?

    Hi Khamatee!

Thanks for reaching Microsoft Community. We're here to help and let's work on this together.

I understand you're having issues with your Surface device. Happy to help and provide more options here.

To further isolate the issue please allow us to ask a few questions.

    • What version of Windows is your Surface device running?
    • Do you happen to have extra cables such as HDMI? Please try to use that cable to connect your external monitor and see if it works.
    • Could you please try to toggle through the settings on your portable monitor and set it to the right input.

Before considering any troubleshooting options, please first make sure your device is up to date. To check for updates, just follow these steps:

Start> Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update> then check for updates and install any available updates.

Run Surface Diagnostics Toolkit and complete task here Fix common Surface problems using the Surface app and Surface Diagnostic Toolkit - Microsoft Support.

Please try to force your device to shut down and restart. Press and hold power button for 20seconds, wait for the Windows logo to appear, once it does, release the button and wait for your Surface device to restart.

Please let us know how it goes. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Greetings,

    RodelioP.

    Good day,

    See below for my comments:

    • What version of Windows is your Surface device running? Windows 11
    • Do you happen to have extra cables such as HDMI? Please try to use that cable to connect your external monitor and see if it works. I don't have an HDMI port of my surface. The HDMI cables works for another laptop. I may need to purchase a connector for my Surface laptop.
    • Could you please try to toggle through the settings on your portable monitor and set it to the right input. This is a ViewSonic portable monitor. Not much settings to change or apply.

i also checked and installed all updates.
