Why Is The Surface Pro 4 1GB Battery Life So Short?

Surface Pro 4 1TB

Windows 10 Pro x64

Ran: powercfg /batteryreport

NAME X910527
MANUFACTURER SMP
SERIAL NUMBER 60396
CHEMISTRY LION
DESIGN CAPACITY 38,152 mWh
FULL CHARGE CAPACITY 36,142 mWh

Current estimate of battery life based on all observed drains since OS install

Since OS install 2:01:23

I only get 2 to 2.5 hours on battery?  Is that normal or is something wrong with the system?

I note that some laptop manufacturers supply a battery cycling application to cycle the battery when it is in a docking station for a long time to prevent it losing charge capacity.  Microsoft does not do that and the battery is not user replaceable.  Is there any app that will do that?

surface seems to deal with battery charging very well. my SP2 is still going very strong, after years.

but for some halfed **** reason Microsoft semi blocks out some of the battery settings. my SP4 gets around 8-9 hours with a very tight power saving settings.

there is plenty of places to read how set the settings.

    don't worry, it gets better.
