Cameras stopped working

Hi all, I am getting the notorious problem with the cameras not being found on my Surface Pro 6, Windows 10 Home 20H2. The error comes up when I open the Camera app (NoCamerasAreAttached - error 0xA00F4244). Could someone be so kind to check on a similar system, which versions of drivers are working in Device Manager, for the following devices that I can see in my Device Manager:

Intel(R) AVStream Camera 5200 (working properly according to Device Manager)

Microsoft Camera Rear (conflict - problem with driver)

Microsoft Camera Front (conflict - problem with driver)

Microsoft Camera IR Front (conflict - problem with driver)

Thanks a lot,

Mark

It is likely pulling it down from Windows Update. I don't think the driver is
"bad", but can you try installing the driver with this specific process:

    1. download the MSI file for your version of Windows
    2. disconnect from the Internet 3. uninstall the drivers again and delete them. do not restart yet.
    3. run the MSI file 5. restart
    4. don't connect to the Internet yet - check to see if anything has changed and
check device manager and see if there are Code 10's/yellow bangs. Save those
      screen shots
    5. restart and connect to the Internet and respond with results.

    I personally do not have a SP6 (I have a 3,5 and 7+) so I can't provide version
numbers. The info on driver and firmware update version numbers is included in
    the listings at
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/surface-pro-6-update-history-1c611758-6d57-0a45-047b-ac358460033d

    • I found in the May 2019 update (more detail if you expand it):

    Intel – Camera – 30.15063.6.8611

    Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500 – Camera

    30.15063.6.8611 improves camera performance.

On my SP7, I see 1 camera in device manager and 3 in System Devices.

    Hi,

What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

Try these if you haven't already:

    1. Try running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit, see if that picks up any errors
    2. Install new drivers from Microsoft here

Let me know how it goes!

    Cheers!

    Hi LazerBomb,

Thanks for the reply. I have done both steps, and an integrity check as well. No effect. It all started last Saturday when I installed an Intel driver update which I cannot roll back (and forgot which one it was to be honest). I also uninstalled and removed drivers for the cameras but they come back (probably from Driverstore). I need the working versions so as a first step I get the correct drivers from Microsoft Update Catalog.

    Thanks!
