Hello Ne0Maniac,
Thank you so much for posting in Microsoft Community.
I appreciate you raising this concern to us and to answer your question,
EOL stands for End of Life, which means that Microsoft will no longer provide any updates or support for the device. This includes security updates, firmware updates, and technical support. While you can still use the device with a normal Windows installation, it may become more vulnerable to security threats and may not receive any new features or improvements. It is recommended to upgrade to a newer device or operating system to ensure that you have the latest security updates and support.
While you can still use your Surface device after the end-of-life date, it is important to note that continuing to use these products past their end-of-life date comes with certain challenges and potential problems. For example, OEM support might become unavailable, and it might be harder to find replacement parts or have repairs done.
You may refer to this link to know the End of Servicing date for each Surface device with a defined Driver and Firmware Lifecycle policy: Surface devices driver and firmware lifecycle - Surface | Microsoft Learn
I hope it helps!
Best regards,
Rolando S.
