Screen turning black while watching TV in the dark

Whenever I watch any streaming service (netflix, stan) in the dark, after 2 mins my screen will go black but the noise will still be coming through. This issue will only happen when I'm in the dark, not when the light is on. How do I fix this problem?

    Adaptive brightness and contrast on your Surface may be enabled. Your Surface adjusts the screen brightness and contrast based on the content displayed. To adjust this feature, please see Adaptive brightness and contrast on Surface devices.
