you can't do any of these. Microsoft will exchange for a refurbished Surface but

will not replace the battery in your existing unit. View the How to get service for Surface article for more info on pricing. You can go to a physical retail Microsoft Store if you are in the US or contact Support

This is a joke. I have spent hours talking to tech guys.

As I see it, I bought a surface 3 in good faith,I also bought a keyboard and a cover.

The purpose of this computer was so that I could use it  to travel.

    I downloaded windows 10

I installed an update from windows 10

My computer would no longer recharge and the charger got hot. The screen began to get hot.

My computer had no charge in it.

I called the tech guys about a week after my warranty ran out.

    They tried everything

I tried to exchange it for a refurbished computer.

They would not do this for me because I do not use credit cards. Even though I bought it directly from microsoft with a debit card.

This computer was used in total for about 1 month, it was cared for in a good environment with no knocks or accidents.

I did nothing wrong, so how come I have spent about 600 GBP and have nothing to show for it.

I feel I have been scammed and should have a free replacement as the goods were obviously not fit for purpose. Microsoft at the moment have gone way down in my estimations.

I did consider buying a new surface pro but then discovered the keyboards were not compatible.

I also thought that I would feel pretty foolish if the same problem happened again.

I have been a loyal user of microsoft products since the 1990's. What has happened to you?

I had this same issue. MS support worse than useless and I'll never buy one again. Mine went when it was 13 months old. £333 for a replacement!

Time to get a cheap battery off eBay and have a go yourself!

My wife loves her Surface Tablet, ours is 3+ years old and its still working beautiful.  We had a terrible time replacing the battery since we are overseas and could not find a qualify technician to replace it. But we took a chance with our best local technician and just today we got it back working beautiful. Should be good for another 4 to 5 years. Microsoft has never let us down.  Stay Microsoft!
