Surface Pro 3 Bricked

On Monday night (11/20) I turned on my computer and it blue screened right after the black screen with "Surface" logo and the loading circle went away. After it restarted it worked just fine up until yesterday (11/22). I used it on 11/21 to exclusively turn in an essay assignment. Yesterday (11/22) I  again turned it on and got an immediate blue screen like the first time. This time when it restarted, it prompted me to a black screen with the words "Surface" and something like "System repair: drive" or whatever. After that finished it brought me to a back lit dark screen for 2 minutes. After that happened it brought me to the "Choose an option" blue page. I then clicked "Continue / Exit and Continue to Windows 10." After doing this my computer went right back to the back lit dark page, then following with the same "Choose an option" blue page.

This is when I decided to start trying some help pages on Microsoft and other similar forums. Nothing helped. This is one of the articles I tried here. Absolutely no help. Not even the resetting of the computer... It failed with the error message "There was a problem resetting your PC, No changes were made". I have no idea what to do and my surface is 3 years old so it is well out of warranty. Please help it will be greatly appreciated.

    H Mitchel,

Your Surface may fail to start Windows due to a corrupted Windows component or a faulty hardware.

If you're unable to reset you device using the recovery options on your Surface, we suggest that you reset your device using a recovery drive created on Windows 10. Click on this link for information on how you can create a recovery drive on a working PC.

Reset your device to its factory settings using the recovery image if using the recovery drive did not work. Using the recovery image will erase everything on your Surface. On how you can download the recovery image, click on this link.

Run check disk if recovery fails. This will check and fix errors on your hard drive. To run check disk, follow these steps:

    1. Connect the recovery drive and turn on your device.
    2. On the Choose an option screen, select Advanced Options.
    3. Choose Command Prompt.
    4. Type chkdsk /r and press Enter.
    5. Wait for the process to finish and restart your device.

If none of the solutions provided worked, you might need to send your device for repair. Click on this link on how you can get service for your Surface. You can also take your device to a Microsoft Store and have it assessed. If you're outside the US, refer to the Global Customer Service phone numbers to get in touch with our Customer Support in your region.

Feel free to post back if you have any concerns.

Just to be clear. I can not get into the surface's windows 10 OS. So, should I create a recovery drive from my desktop pc using the link you gave me. Because I read around on some forums and saw to create a recovery drive it must be from the computer that you need to recover, and if that's the case I can't make a recovery drive since I can not get into windows. So if this is the case and I can not use a recovery drive should I download the recovery image for surface pro 3 and do that?

Thanks for the quick response and the help!

no whatever you read isn't applicable to your Surface. the Surface downloadable

recovery image is specific to your Surface model. Go ahead use the downloadable

    recovery image.
