Surface Go USB C to HDMI

Microsoft offers a USB C to HDMI adaptor which states it is for the Surface Book only. As the Surface Go also has a USB C port surely this will also work and output both video and sound so that the Surface Go can be connected to a TV? If it will not then I would like to know why.  Perhaps all USB C ports are not the same?

I have to think that the Store listing is wrong. Take a look at

Thanks.  This is now working well with a third party USB C to HDMI adaptor. The sound output initially was being directed to the Surface Go's internal speakers.  Once I selected the TV output setting the sound went to the TV and muted the internal speakers on the "Go". The picture quality on a decent size TV and the sound level is quite good and now enables me to watch All 4 catch-up TV programmes for which Sony does not provide an app on my particular TV model.

How did you redirect the sound output to the TV instead of the Go internal speakers?

    Thanks, cb

Once the USB C port was connected to the HDMI port of the TV, I went into Settings/System/Sound on the SG where there is an option to "Choose your output device". The TV showed up as an option.  Once I had done this manually once I found that when I connected the cable again, the sound went automatically to the TV.  It's almost as though the Surface Go had "learned" about the new output.

I was very pleased with the quality of both the video and audio from the Surface Go to my TV and managed to watch the whole "Greyzone" box set via the All 4 app on the SG on the TV.
