You should have done some research before buying a Surface Book for gaming as they are totally unsuitable for it. Reviewers indicate the SB3 is even worse than the SB2. The power plan has nothing to do with with it. Trying to run games for an extended period will destroy your Surface Book.
How to change the power plan in Microsofot Surface Book 3?
Hello,
I've just bought a MSB3 (32Gb Ram. i7 and Nvidia GeForce GTX1650) almost top and I can't play any game. I use the GeForce Monitor and I have drops of FPS with high CPU usage so the game starts to gets slower...impossible to play. I tried mostly everything and nothing.
I can't believe that a powerful laptop as this one can't run properly FIFA17 and TOTAL WAR 2 . Games from 2016/17.
I tried to change to power settings but I have only one plan enabled "balanced" . This (see below) won't change anything.
Any suggestion?
Thank you and regards,
Juan

2021-07-05T15:42:54+00:00 Hey! I didn't buy the Book 3 for gaming, if you see the games I'm playing, they are from 2016 so it's a very occasional gaming.
What I dont' understand is that I cannot play those games properly.
Regards.

2021-09-20T07:27:06+00:00 I know that this is not the expected answer you would like to see but I've totally resolved my performance issues by replacing the default charger with an USB C Power Delivery 100W. Looks like there is a sensor that "think" the GPU is overheating when charged with the default charger, using an USB C supplier changed my SB3 completely, now it delivers PC gaming performance. I'll update this post with all detailed data later.
