What HDMI cable should i use to connect a Dell docking Station to the Surface Hub?

My company recently installed the Microsoft Surface Hub 2S in the meeting room. However, it's not possible to use display mode because HDMI cables longer than 2m don't work. Only if an adapter is used. We've already changed several brands of cable and nothing. We have HDMI optical cables and they don't work either. Can you please provide a solution to this problem?

    Hello Palak Rajawat,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

According to your description, I suggest you can try the HDMI cable with higher transmission rate.

Because different cables have different bandwidths.

In addition, you can see whether the following methods can help you

    • Solution 1:
      • Use an HDMI signal extender (transmitter + receiver) to extend the signal transmission distance (up to 60 meters) via a network cable (Cat5e/Cat6).
      • Connection method:
        1. Sender Connects to the HDMI output of the Surface Hub 2S.
        2. RECEIVER Connect the HDMI input of the monitor/projector.
        3. The two ends are connected by a network cable.
      • Pros: More stable than long HDMI cables and easier to wire with network cables.
    • Solution 2:

Using the USB-C to HDMI Adapter (Alternative)

    • Issue Cause: Surface Hub 2S may have special requirements for HDMI output, while USB-C to HDMI may be more stable.
    • Programs:
      • Using a USB-C to HDMI adapter (e.g. Microsoft certified models)。
      • If the Surface Hub 2S has a USB-C video output, try the HDMI connection instead.
    • Solution 3:

    Check HDMI cable compatibility

    • **Issue Cause:**Some HDMI cables may not support a particular resolution or HDCP protocol for Surface Hub 2S.
    • Programs:
      • Make sure the HDMI cable supports 4K@60Hz and HDCP 2.2 (may be required for Surface Hub 2S).
      • Try a short HDMI cable + fiber extender (e.g. HDMI over Fiber Extender).
    • Solution 4:
Checking Display Settings and EDID Issues
    • **Issue Cause:**Surface Hub 2S may not be able to recognize the EDID (resolution/refresh rate information) of the display correctly.
    • Programs:
      • Manually set the resolution (e.g. 1080p 60Hz) on the Surface Hub 2S.
      • Use an EDID manager or HDMI signal conditioner to force the output of a compatible signal.

Thank you for your patience and reading.

    Best regards.
