Hello, I have a Surface GO2 64GB memory and 4GB RAM. After updating to Win11 24H2, the processor is always fully utilised. The update process has been running for days without any results. I have restarted the computer several times without any changes to the performance. What can I do?

    Hello, Thomas_B5.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

If your Surface Go 2 has been on update and you can't access the system, there's actually a relatively limited amount we can do.

But you can enter the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and roll back the update by following these steps:

    1. Force entry into WinRE: Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the device, then press the power button again to start the device. Repeat this process and the device should automatically enter WinRE after three consecutive failed boot attempts.
    2. Enter Advanced Options: In the WinRE screen, select Advanced Options.
    3. Uninstall updates: In the Advanced Options, select “Uninstall Updates”. Depending on the type of updates you have recently installed, select “Uninstall latest quality updates” or “Uninstall latest feature updates”.
    4. Finish uninstalling and reboot: Click on “Uninstall Feature Updates” to allow the computer to complete the process and reboot.

If you are still unable to boot the device, you may want to consider doing a recovery installation of it using a recovery image. We don't want to go this far, but for your possible needs, I'll share the steps in the thread.

Since we don't have access to the current device, we need to use another computer to access the following site to get a dedicated image file for the Surface to create the recovery drive:

Surface Recovery Image Download - Microsoft Support

Get it by logging into your account and entering your device's serial number:

After completing the creation of the recovery drive, continue to refer to the guidelines in the following link to complete the recovery operation:

The link shows us a complete demo video and key textual guidelines:

With the above steps, we were eventually able to re-access the device.

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you make any progress.

    I support you.

    Best Regards.
