Hi Guys,

My Surface Laptop Model 1769  Bricked; I see battery charging light is on when connected, I tried below approach to bring it up, but nothing work any more ideas would be helpful.

  1. Make sure that the Power Supply is attached to the device.
  2. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds.
  3. Repeatedly press and hold the Power button for 1/2 second before letting go (on/off on/off on/off).
  4. Wait a few seconds to see if the Surface begins running and screen turns on.

he second solution suggested by Microsoft Support is for users to try the “hotkey” keyboard shortcut. This method consists of pressing the Windows command prompt key+Ctrl+Shift+B if you have a keyboard connected. If it’s in tablet mode, press both up and down volume buttons on the keyboard quickly three times and hopefully the Surface will beep and refresh, booting the screen up. If you do not hear this noise, repeat the last step.

    Hi Navind,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your Surface Laptop. For the step 2 that you mentioned, this is basically doing a Force Shutdown on the device but please try to do it for 20 seconds (Press and hold the Power button for 20 seconds). Make sure to disconnect all extra peripherals first including SD cards, USB drives but leave the charger connected and confirm that the LED/tip is lit.

If still there is no response from the device, please contact support through our Global Customer Service phone numbers for further assistance and to check for replacement options available.

    Hope this helps.
