Hello, ashok seshadri.
Welcome to Microsoft Community!
I will explain each of your problems.
1. Your Surface Laptop 7 is connected to the Dock and continues to be connected to a printer, but the printer does not work satisfactorily.
Possible causes of this situation are: outdated drivers, hardware issues with Surface Laptop 7 with Dock, cable issues, and compatibility issues.
You can try manually updating the drivers for Surface Laptop 7 and Dock to troubleshoot potential issues and maintain device performance:
Download Surface Laptop 7th Edition from Official Microsoft Download Center
Download Surface Dock 2 Firmware and Drivers from Official Microsoft Download Center
Once the update is complete, please reboot the device to apply the driver update. This will also enable you to update the relevant drivers for the touchpad.
The above steps are usually effective if these hardware performance issues stem from the drivers.
Cables as well as compatibility issues between devices we can try to mitigate by obtaining Microsoft accessories designed specifically for Surface products. I will share a link with you:
Accessories Designed for Surface
Of course, you can also test the printer's operation on other devices.
2. Because the old switch gets its connections from the C-slot, you cannot properly use the switch for monitoring.
You can also troubleshoot this problem by replacing the cables, choosing the right cable for the switch and for the Surface's interface.
Of course, if you are willing to provide more information about the use of the switch, that would be great, as it would prevent us from misinterpreting the issue.
3. File Explorer is not responding.
You can try the following suggestions:
Restart File Explorer:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Find and select “Windows Explorer” and click “Restart”.
Run the System File Checker:
Type CMD in the search box to open a command prompt (run as administrator), type sfc /scannow and press Enter. This will scan and repair system files.
Clean cache and temporary files:
Use a disk cleanup utility to clear the system cache and temporary files. Or manually delete some unnecessary cache and other content.
4. Touchpad is not working correctly.
Again, we can refer to the driver acquisition link shared with you earlier to troubleshoot driver issues.
5. About the use of Adobe applications.
It is important to note that the Surface Laptop 7 is powered by the ARM system architecture, and the application versions need to meet the ARM64 requirements in order to run correctly on this device.
To assist you in investigating this issue, I have attempted to search for Adobe-related information, which I will continue to share with you:
As of today, Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader have not been released natively for ARM64. They can only run on Windows devices via 32-bit (x86) emulation mode.Adobe is actively working on expanding the availability of its apps on ARM architecture devices, but a specific ARM64 release date has not yet been announced.
As for the Surface Laptop 7 itself, if driver updates don't alleviate issues such as the trackpad, connectivity, etc., we'll need to consider hardware-level failures. Since I'm not in your neck of the woods, I'd recommend getting in touch with the Surface Technical Support team via the Surface App for related hardware service.
I will write the steps to create a service order here for your reference:
Open the Surface App (usually built into your Surface device, or you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't have one) and follow the procedure below:
- Click "Help and Support" and then click "Get Help".
- Briefly describe your problem in the text box, such as "Touchpad issues" or "Dock is not working correctly", and then press Enter.
- Click "Contact Support" at the bottom.
- Select "Technical Support" and click "Confirm".
- You will see "Chat support" and "phone support" options, please contact them during working hours, you will get one-to-one support services.
These are some of the information I can share with you now.
I wish you all the best.
Best Regards.
