Surface Book (one) not charging properly, have to apply pressure to the connector for the white light to come on and charge

So this started happening around January. At first, it was a simple as just reconnecting the cable after realizing it wasn't charging...but over time it has gotten worse...to the point where I have to apply significant pressure for the white light to come one and for the device to register that it is charging.

The first thing I did was make sure it wasn't an issue with the charger so I bought a Microsoft genuine surface charger and the same issue occurs in exactly the same way (apply pressure in certain spots).

Naturally the issue went out of mind with the Covid-19 issues (Washington state here) and time passed as I waited to see what would happen with University and so on.

I'm once again trying to tackle this issue but unfortunately, all my local Microsoft stores are closed and I discovered my Complete Care Service Plan expired March 6th, 2020.

I'm hoping to figure out what my options are but at this time they seem to be limited and I don't have the funds available to replace the device. Is there any chance of getting a grace period exception given what's happened?

    Hi RSG-ZR2,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

I'd like you to run the battery report so we can further check whether the Surface device is already having a hardware battery problem. To run the battery report, simply type Command Prompt on the search box next to the Windows icon and run it as an administrator. Type and enter powercfg /batteryreport. Once done, kindly follow the file path, take a photo of the report and include it in your next post.

On the other hand, a one month grace period will only be given to devices that just got out of manufacturer's warranty and should not be beyond a month from the time it was expired but in your case, it would be best to **contact support**for further details about it.

Please respond to this thread for further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z
