Surface Book Touch Lag

Hi,

My brother and I just purchased two surface books and we are both experiencing this problem. I'm not sure, if this is normal or not since we both have the issues and bought it from two separate people, but I never experienced this issue with the surface pro 3.

The issue is that the touch input will be laggy or not register or finger touches. It's either one since I will need to repeatedly tap it until it registers it. However, if I use the pen there's no lag or problem registering it at all. Everything I select with the pen works perfectly fine.

Thanks,

TheBaconDaddy

    Hi,

This issue may be due to a possible hardware or software issue.  In order to isolate the problem, let's go through several troubleshooting steps.

Let's first try to update your drivers to ensure that everything is working fine on your device.  We recommend you run the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit (SDT) in order to be able to update all drivers for your device.  To find out more, please click on this link.

SDT will be able to determine if there are any issues with any of your drivers.  Try to see if the issue still persists after the update.

If the issue continues to persist, we would like to clarify on our end if the touch lag is with the screen.  If it is with the screen, you may follow the advise of MVP Barb Bowman which can be accessed through this link.

    Hi JohnP Lee,

    Thank you for replying.

From the SDT it came back with power supply and battery laptop mode and stated that laptop mode not detected, but everything else was fine.

I actually think that, with last night's big update, it solved this issue, but I'm not sure since I don't have class today. Today, while I was using it while studying touch screen issues seem to be gone, but cannot determine if it is fully fixed or not. However, I do have class tomorrow, and will update you with my testing.

    Best,

    Hi JohnP Lee,

Just tested it in class and problem still seems to persist I tried barb's solution and problem seems to persist still. I will try a restarting the surface and see where that goes.
