I have created new content types for Word, Excel but I am unable to create new documents. When I go to my document library and click on New and try to open a new Word document all it does is create a file in my list named Document without any extension and I am unable to open the file. If I switch to classic view I am able to open the Word document. The same thing happens with Excel except the document it creates is named Book.
I uploaded templates from both Word and Excel with the .dotx and .xltx file extensions.
I am new to Sharepoint so I feel like I am probably missing something simple.
