Have you tried Safe Mode? Hold Shift+F8 (the Gear key nex to Home) while turning on the Surface Pro to see if you can get into Safe Mode.
Surface Pro error: File:\BCD Error code: 0xc0000034
Anyone know how to fix this problem; my screen shows:
Recovery Your PC needs to be repaired
The boot configuration Data file is missing some required information
File:\BCD Error code: 0xc0000034
You’ll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don’t have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer. Press the Windows Key for UEFI Firmware Settings.
If you go to the UEFI- it displays options which revert back to the above screen.

2013-04-01T14:58:18+00:00 I tried you suggestion but nothing different really happened. It flashes the original recovery needed screen and then takes you to the UEFI screen, but none of the options work.
Thanks anyway.

2013-04-01T18:50:27+00:00 Hello daov,
Have you been able to get to Safe mode by pressing those two keys on a Surface Pro?

2013-04-01T19:05:14+00:00 Actually, no. I posted it after seeing that on a few different sites. After the poster stated having no success, I attempted it for kicks. There appears to be no actual published method for entering Safe Mode on the Surface Pro that I am aware of. Someone stated they used the ESC and DEL keys but I was not able to do that either.
I attempted this with the touch cover and an external USB keyboard. Nada. Not sure why the poster marked my reply as the answer. Maybe a mistake?

2013-04-01T22:47:49+00:00 Hello again daov,
I've seen someone claim they got to Safe mode in a Surface Pro using a USB keyboard and F8, my understanding is that it is extremely unlikely to work since it is a UEFI device. This link is interesting:
