So I got my sp3 yesterday and it was blazing fast on wifi. I did all the new updates and after doing so every web page was loading slow or timing out.
I did some searching and there a bunch of people with the exact same problem "Other forum"
I cant use my 5ghz network which is my wireless ac. I have a netgear nighthawk and the only way i can use this sp3 is by using the 2.6ghz now.
Please fix this. I'm shaking my head that first update screwed something up.... i already went through nightmares with my sp2 so this isnt a good start :(
Just a comment about the r7000 and 5GHz issues and dropouts. Can you check what version firmware you are using? There have been general issues with the r7000 and 5GHz AC connections, some of which have been resolved by updating the firmware in the router. It seems related to what client chipset is in use. I post this to rule out the router being part of the issue. This issue is documented in the Netgear Support forums.
I don't understand your reference to "Other forum" - could you post a link?
Here's my router info - I checked for updates to no avail.
Firmware Version
V1.0.3.60_1.1.27
I wasn't sure if I could post links - There's multiple people on here with WiFi problems after update

As for the other routers from Asus and Apple mentioned in the other threads, I believe they all have the same Broadcom chipset. Which might mean that there s common code involved. And it could be a combination of router firmware and drivers on the Surface.
I don't have an SP3 so I can't try to repro myself. I did see issues with some other devices/computers with the 5GHz band. I've been getting regular private debug builds from Netgear. I don't see these drops in the last couple of debug builds. I'm 'working' on resolving an IPv6 issue with this router, actually, with Netgear and Comcast.
In any case, I mentioned the 5GHz known issue so that Microsoft official staff reading this can add it to the scenario (and they can contact me privately of they so wish).
