    Hi Lloyd Camacho Valle,

Thank you for posting your inquiry here in Microsoft Community.

Can you confirm if your getting this error code when installing Windows update?

If Yes, below are the steps that I can recommend.

    Run Windows update troubleshooter

Go to Settings >> System >> Troubleshooter >> Other troubleshooter >> Choose Windows update and click run.

Run the system file checker to check if there are corrupted system files that are just looping around causing this kind of issue to exist.   To run the system file checker, kindly type Command Prompt on the search box next to the Windows icon and run it as administrator. Once done, type and enter sfc /scannow.

Let it load, detect and repair those corrupted files. Whether it detects a corrupted file or not, kindly restart your Surface device afterwards.

Check the System Date and Time settings:

The operating system will usually determine the information about the time zone, time, and date automatically. If this synchronization process doesn't work, then it can lead to update error 0x80070002

    • Firstly, go to "Control Panel" and click on it.
    • Now, open the "Date and Time" option.
    • Then, press "Change date and time" and make the required corrections.
    • Next, configure your time zone before pressing anOKbutton.
    • Press the "Internet Time" tab before selecting "Change Settings."
    • Now, check "Synchronize with an Internet time server" before choosing the Time Server from the list shown and press the "Update Now" option.
    • Lastly, press "OK" twice to save the configuration and close all windows.

    Delete Software Distribution Folder

The Software distribution folder is found on the C drive of your system. It is in the folder where all downloaded Windows updates are stored.

It may turn out that some files in the folder are corrupt and therefore unable to or prevent the installation of updates. Deleting it can help in resolving error code 0x80070002. Here are the simple steps:

    • Click "This PC" or "My computer"
    • Navigate to "C:\Windows" folder.
    • Search for and delete the folder named "SoftwareDistribution". You may also choose to rename the folder as “SoftwareDistributionOld” in case you do not wish to delete it.
    • Restart your computer before accessing the Windows Update Store. You should be able to notice updates being downloaded and installed.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
