Surface Pro Signature keyboard only works at a specific angle

Hello everyone,

This video describes exactly the problem I'm having with the keyboard:

In addition, I noticed that there are black spots on the connector of the keyboard - you can see in the video I uploaded here:

I reset the device, tried to clean the contacts with a little alcohol but none of that helped.

What else can I do?

It would be worthwhile trying your typecover on someone else's Surface Pro 8 or 9 to see if the typing issue occurs on a different Surface. If it does, you might need to exchange your Surface. Before you do that, try the downloadable recovery image to completely wipe and reimage (which you would want to do before exchanging anyway) to completely rule out software issues. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surfacerecoveryimage

    Hi Barb, thank you !

It didn't help and I think the problem is with the Surface.

I would appreciate help on how to exercise the warranty and send the computer for repair.

I try to open a service request but it directs me to the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit.

I am very disappointed with Microsoft, it is really difficult to get real service from them.

I wrote Send your Surface in for exchange/repair. An Online Walkthrough (microsoft.com) a while back.. you can use a modified version of that, hopefully. If that does not work, Send your Surface in for exchange/repair. An Online Walkthrough (microsoft.com) might help. Be sure to tell them you already tried reimaging with the recovery image.
