Is it safe to update the notebook graphics driver using the Intel downloads ?

I have installed the Intel Driver & Support Assistant, which periodically scans my notebook and offers updates to Intel software and drivers.
These updates arrive earlier than Micosoft offerings.
I have updated the wifi and bluetooth drivers without problems, but now I see there is an update available for the graphics board, the Intel Arc & Iris Graphics.
Could somebody tell me if it is safe to apply the update or should I wait for the Microsoft version ?
As far as I understand it, it depends whether Microsoft has customized or not the driver.
Thank you

    Hello, gallinagrande.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community!

I noticed that you have already installed Intel's drivers and other related content on your Surface Laptop Studio 2.

For the Surface Laptop Studio 2, it's usually safe to update the graphics drivers using the Intel Driver and Support Assistant, but there are a few things to keep in mind:

    1. Microsoft custom drivers: drivers for Surface devices are sometimes optimized by Microsoft to ensure optimal performance and compatibility. Therefore, it may be safer to wait for the driver version released by Microsoft.
    2. Check the changelog: Check the release notes for Intel driver updates for improvements and known issues with the new version. This can help you decide if you need to update immediately.
    3. Backup important data: Before making any system updates, make sure you backup your important data just in case.

In the meantime, allow me to provide you with an address here where you can manually download the driver and firmware installer for Surface Laptop Studio 2:

Download Surface Laptop Studio 2 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center

You can visit this link if and when a problem occurs with one of our drivers, or if you need to update the driver to maintain device performance.

In summary, if you don't have a particular need for the current graphics performance, waiting for Microsoft's release may be the more prudent option.

    Best Regards.
