I am reinstalling windows on a surface laptop 5 that I had installed linux onto. While reinstalling, the keyboard and trackpad of the laptop are not working.

External keyboard and mouse work just fine and I had to use a dongle +ethernet because the wifi was not working. What do I do?

    Hi,

It sounds like you installed the generic Windows 11 OS image, which does not have OEM specific drivers. This is not recommended. At this point, you have two options.

    1. Install the driver package for your device from Download drivers and firmware for Surface - Microsoft Support
    2. Reimage the device using the Surface factory image. Steps at Creating and using a USB recovery drive for Surface - Microsoft Support

I recommend the 2nd option as this will reimage the device with the OS, drivers and configuration. The same as if you had purchased it as new device.

    Hope this helps,

    Greg
