Hello Peter Stankiewicz,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
After reading everything you've posted here in its entirety, this could indeed be a symptom of an overheated device. Because of the increase in temperature, the touch function of the screen fails or cannot respond normally. At this point, whether you touch or use the mouse, you may not be able to move the cursor, or the cursor will move automatically.
Then you might want to focus on what's causing the Surface to overheat. Common reasons are:
- The heat dissipation of the device is blocked.
- The fan is not working.
- Some applications are consuming a lot of CPU.
Therefore, check that the Surface's heat sink is not blocked.
Next, try to force the device to shut down and then restart, which can bring back some of the functions that were in the "suspended" state. Performing a forced shutdown is like removing the battery from a laptop or unplugging a desktop computer. It resets the hardware and clears all the cache and memory of the hardware.
At last. Open the task manager in advance, and keep an eye out for a process that is highly CPU intensive. If you can confirm this situation, please send us a screenshot to confirm whether it is a system process or a third-party software process.
