Turn off Surface Book 2 internal Monitor to use 3 external monitors

I have a Surface Book 2 and the Microsoft Surface Dock. I'm running two external 4K monitors. I want to add a 3rd external monitor that is touchscreen for my work and not use the Surface Book's internal monitor (it's too small/far away). How do I accomplish this with the USB-C port? I've been told to continue using the Surface Dock for the 2 4K monitors and use the USB-C Port to the new touchscreen monitor but turn off my Internal Monitor. How do I turn off my Surface Book 2's internal monitor?

    Hello tlc-k,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

We understand how important this setup is for you.

We would like to inform you that Surface devices are designed only to support up to two external monitors. With that being said, if you prefer to use the external monitors only or as mainly display while connected to your Surface device, instead of adding another monitor, you can try this settings then.

    1. Ensure first that the display is in Extend. Then, go to Settings, then click on System.
    2. Select Display on the left pane. Under Rearrange your displays, click on Identify.
    3. Click the designated display number of your external monitor.
    4. Lastly, under Multiple displays, check the box for Make this my main display.

Let us know how it goes. Don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there’s anything else that needs to be addressed.

    Regards,

    StevenK

I have no problem using the Microsoft Surface dock. My laptop acts as monitor 1, my 2 LG 4k monitors serve as monitors 2 and 3. In a modern world, (yes things have changed since you designed, sold, and discontinued the Surface Book 2) with working from home being more common, the small laptop screen plus the 2 external monitors no longer suffices. I sell Point-of-Sale software via remote meeting demos. I'm planning to sell our new browser based-Point-of-Sale that is being released so I bought a 24" 1920 x 1080 touchscreen monitor to use for my demos. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered my $3,000 Surface Book will not live up to the challenge. A straight-forward answer would be nice. Can I make this work with my 3-year-old Surface Book 2 or do I need to ditch the Microsoft Surface line-up for a $600 desktop PC that seems up to the challenge?

I'm sorry to sound so snarky but after the money I've spent with Microsoft and the 3-month long nightmare of buying and returning products that thought they might work, I'm exhausted.

    Thanks for your response, tlc-k.

    We totally understand you point.

Unfortunately, Surface device is only capable of supporting up to two external monitors with or without a dock. With that being said, connecting a third external monitor may no longer be possible and supported.
