Blue/Red/Purple Pixelation Glitch?

Hi All,

Wondering if you could please advise me on what is causing the strange blue/purple discolouration per the photo?

My only troubleshoot (which is a very temp option) is to switch night light on and off, but within a matter of minutes or an hour or so, it keeps coming back?

I bought my Surface Pro in June last year, so it is still on warranty. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue so I can inform myself a little further when I take it in for assessment.

    Hello ZachSmith95,

Thanks for posting your concern here.

In this case, please check if the issue is present in UEFI. See How to get to the UEFI settings on a Surface for more details. If it does, then we know it's most likely a hardware failure on the display. For any hardware issue, kindly contact Microsoft Surface Support to seek options for your device or possible replacement. If you're located outside United States, see Global Support.

    Hope this works for you.

    Hi Steven,

Thanks for your response. I have navigated to the UEFI menu - I’m assuming you mean that if the pixel discolouration occurs when viewing this menu, then that indicates a hardware issue?

I’ve had the menu open for a good 5 minutes and the discolouration hasn’t appeared as yet.

    Thanks,

    Zach

    Hello ZachSmith95,

Thanks for keeping us updated. I'm sorry for the delayed response though.

In this case, since the issue is not present in UEFI, we suggest to do these methods to isolate this problem:

    • Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check for Windows Update. Make sure to check View Optional features and select all recent updates. Restart the Surface after installing updates.
    • Update drivers and firmware Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by typing winveron the search barnear the Windows logo. Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface**,**choose (your Surface model) then click Download.
Choose the .msi file that matches or nearest to your current OS Build and click Next.
After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
    • Run System File Checker in Windows 10.

    Hope this helps.

    StevenK
