Is there anyway to connect a usb to serial and connect to a console port on a network switch.

I can ssh but I am looking for a direct console connection.

    Any type of USB accessory require of a driver to work. The Surface 2 runs Windows RT where the amount of drivers included in the OS has been reduced to minimum to make the OS smaller. In another hand no all OEMs have released ARM compiled versions of their drivers. At this moment I don't know of any USB to serial that works in Windows RT.
