Poor Audio on Surface Laptop Go

Hey there!

I recently got a new Surface Laptop Go. Everything was going great until one day my speakers sounded super muffled and kind of like a cheap speaker from Dollar Tree (no shame on Dollar Tree). I've looked up so many things and tried to update my Realtek High Definition Audio drivers, restarted, force shutdown, troubleshoot, nearly everything the internet has advised me to do and they still sound so poor. I don't know if I need to get something repaired or if something is wrong settings wise.

Anything would be appreciated!

    Hi Rach02,

Thanks for reaching out to Microsoft Community and posting your inquiry. We're sorry to hear that you're getting a sound issue on your Surface Device.

    We suggest the methods below:

Run System File Checker Tool in Windows 10.

    • Check for Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller. Go to Search bar > Search for Device manager > Under System Devices, try checking for Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller. If you have it, please right-click on **Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller >**Select Uninstall device >Do the same forIntel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) OED (if you have it). Note: If prompted with a checkbox stating "Delete the driver software for this device", leave it uncheck then hit Uninstall. > Restart the device.

    - Set your audio device as the default device. Go to control panel >Select Hardware and Soundfrom the Control Panel, and then select Sound. > On the Playback tab, right-click the listing for your audio device, select rSet as Default Device, and then select OK.

    - Turn off audio enhancements. Go to **control panel >**Select Hardware and Soundfrom the Control Panel, and then select Sound. > On the Playback tab, right-click the Default Device, and then select Properties. > On the Enhancementstab, select either the Disable all enhancementsor the Disable all sound effects check box (depending on which option you see), select OK, and try to play your audio device.
