Why can’t I reset my surface pro 11? Please help! I’m loosing the will
Hi I bought a surface pro 11 yesterday. I’ve added basic things like my gmail account. I’m trying to factory reset it because I want to send it back. But it won’t let me. It keeps saying the surface pro needs repairing. I just want all my stuff and settings gone. Why is it so hard when I’ve only had it a day and have barely put anything on there

2025-01-22T03:08:26+00:00 Hi Katie,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble resetting your Surface Pro 11. If you're receiving an error message that says your device needs repairing, it's possible that there is an issue with the device that is preventing it from being reset. You can try resetting your Surface to factory condition directly from a USB recovery drive. Here's how:
- Shut down your Surface.
- Insert the USB recovery drive into the USB port on your Surface.
- Press and hold the volume-down button while you press and release the power button. When the Surface logo appears, release the volume-down button.
For more info, see Creating and using a USB recovery drive. If the above steps don't work, you may need to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance. They can help you diagnose and resolve any issues that may be preventing your device from being reset. Contact Us - Microsoft Support
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions. Your SincerelyHahn. W - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
