replacement or repair of SurfaceBook keyboard Model: 1705

I suffered a cyber attack on my SurfaceBook around 10/29/20.  A line of blinking white circles appeared near the top of my SurfaceBook screen.  I lost control of my mouse some of the windows and partially my power button.  I had to hold the power button in for about 30 seconds before the SurfaceBook would switch off.  If I turned it on again and connected to the internet I would get the same symptoms again.

I started working through the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit to try and fix the problem.  When it told me to detach the tablet and reattach it to the keyboard so that the screen was not facing the keys of the keyboard I was unable to detach the tablet from the keyboard using the detachment key.  The red light on the keyboard detachment key stayed on, the tablet didn't recognize that it was attached to the keyboard because none of the keys worked, and when I needed an onscreen keyboard for typing anything into a window field, the onscreen keyboard wouldn't pop up.

My brother found a YouTube video which showed him how to manually detach the tablet from the keyboard.  I did a factory reset of the tablet which allowed me to get onscreen keyboards to appear on the tablet.  The keyboard still doesn't work.

After much difficulty I was able to prepare a service ticket for the SurfaceBook and it will cost me $649.33 to replace the SurfaceBook.  Also prior to the cyber attack I accidentally spilled creme soda on the keyboard, but I wiped it off with water and it was still working after the spill about 24 hours before the cyber attack.

Is there a cheaper way I can either replace the Model:1705 keyboard or get it repaired?

You MIGHT find the keyboard on eBay - others have done so successfully. There's
    no guarantee this will work..
