Hi Gaurav Narayan Singh,
Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.
It’s important to note that the Surface Laptop 5 power supply unit model is 1706 and it has a main charger of 60W (15 volts @ 4 amps) and a USB power on charger of 5W (5 volts @ 1 amp), with a total wattage of 65W.
- Is there a chance for you to test another PSU to your Surface to see if problem occurs?
- What build version of Windows you are currently running?
- When did this issue started to happen?
If you’re using the correct power supply and still experiencing issues, I recommend trying the following steps below to troubleshoot your device.
Force the device to shut down and restart.
Press and hold down the power button until your Surface shuts down and restarts and you see the Windows logo screen (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit and check pending updates available.

Check cables and reset your power supply unit:
- Disconnect the charger from your Surface, unplug the power cable from the power outlet in the wall, and then disconnect any USB accessories.
- Wait at least 10 seconds. This gives the charger time to reset.
- After that, clean the connector with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth, and check for any damage. (Replace damaged cables.) Plug the charger back into the power outlet and your Surface.
Plug it in the other way:
- Flip the connector on the charger 180 degrees, and then check to see if the same thing happens.
Remove and reinstall battery driver.
- From Device Manager, expand the Batteries category.
- Double-tap or double-click the Battery driver, select the Driver tab, and select Uninstall > OK. Then restart your device.
Manually Update drivers and firmware.
- Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Laptop.
- Then click the link next to Surface Laptop 5 then click Download on the next page.
- Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.
- After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.
Let me know how it goes.
Kind regards,
Lavenia
