    Hi Fiona Ashley,

Thank you for reaching Microsoft Community. We're sorry to know what happened to your Surface device.

I am aware of the issue you're experiencing with your Surface Pro 7's screen. I am here to help and let us both isolate the problem. Allow me to ask some questions.

    • May I know what build version of Windows you are running?
    • When did this issue started?
    • Any changes were made prior to this issue to happen?
    • Were there any third-party anti-virus software installed?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Disconnect accessories and make sure your Surface is charged:

Disconnect any USB drives, SD cards, USB accessories, the Type Cover, or anything else you’ve connected to your Surface. If you’re using Surface Dock, unplug your Surface from it.

Wake it up with keyboard shortcuts: Connect to a keyboard or use an integrated keyboard. Press the Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B.

    Force a restart.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then release it and wait for 10 seconds before pressing it again to turn on your device.

Try connecting your Surface Pro 7 to an external display to see if the issue is with the screen or the device itself.

The troubleshooting steps can be found at Surface won’t turn on or start - Microsoft Support.

Let me know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Lavenia
