Hi Ryan,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.
If your Surface Book 2 has become extremely slow after a Windows update, here are several troubleshooting steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:
- Force a shutdown and restart your Surface: Force a shutdown and restart your Surface - Microsoft Support
- Disable Startup Programs
- Some programs may be set to run at startup and can slow down your device.
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
to open the Task Manager, then go to the Startup tab and disable unnecessary programs.
A "clean boot" starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support
- Check for High CPU or Disk Usage
- Open the Task Manager and look at the Processes tab to see if any process is using an unusually high amount of CPU or disk.
- If you find a process that is using too much, right-click on it and select **End Task** to see if performance improves.
- Uninstall Recent Updates
- If the problem began immediately after a specific update, you might want to consider uninstalling that update:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates.
- Reset or Refresh Windows
- If none of the above steps work, consider resetting or refreshing your Windows installation while keeping your files. Go to Settings > Recovery and choose Reset this PC. Restore or reset Surface for Windows - Microsoft Support
These steps should help you identify and resolve the issue with your Surface Book 2 after the Windows update. Let me know if you need further assistance!
Your Sincerely
