Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Happened after the update prior to the anniversary update and still not working properly.
When I connect the surface pro 4 to external device via display port, sound comes from the surface speakers instead of the connected device and ''samsung audio'' is not listed on the playback devices. When I restart the computer it works. Half the time it doesn't work.
Removing the driver and reinstalling did not solve the problem.

Linking to the windows update changelog is neither a solution or helpful to finding a solution.
All updates are installed, problem still persist. Please have a look
Hi,
Can you tell us what happened when you set the audio output to the external monitor? Are all drivers up to date?
Regards.
Audio output cannot be set anything other than 'speakers' simply because there is no other option.
Upon waking up from sleep, no audio device is listed or selected when connected to an external device. Rebooting solves the issue until the next sleep.
I contacted the chat service of Microsoft and they suggested me to reset the device.
This is my primary work computer and honestly I do not want to reset it every time there is a bug. Updates should solve problems not create new ones.
I owned and used Surface pro 2, 3, and 4 and this one is by far the worst concerning bugs. Most of the issues were solved within last year but still new ones are being introduced. This creates a major trust issue.
